When you have to renovate a wooden floor depends on the intensity of use and the finish of the floor. In addition, the maintenance of the floor plays an important role, such as regular mopping with a special maintenance soap.

Renovation of oiled wooden floors

A wooden floor that has been finished with oil only needs to be renovated if the use of maintenance soap and maintenance oil no longer produces sufficient results. In general, this is the case after 20 to 25 years.

You use the maintenance soap when mopping. You only need to apply the maintenance oil once every few years, unless the floor is used very intensively. In that case, annual treatment may be required.

If your oiled wooden floor needs renovation, a thin layer of the top layer is sanded off. Then the floor is again finished with oil and your floor looks like new again.

Uipkes wooden floors can be renovated 3 to 6 times (depending on the thickness of the top layer). So our floors last a lifetime!

Local renovation of your floor

A wooden floor finished with oil can be renovated locally. This can be a solution if the floor in high traffic areas, such as the kitchen, wears out faster than the rest of the floor. But also if your wooden floor has damage that you want to repair.

Renovation of varnished wooden floors

Depending on the use, wooden floors that have been finished with a lacquer layer must be renovated once every 10 to 15 years. You can tell it's time for renovation when the floor starts to show bare spots.

The renovation consists of sanding the floor and finishing it three times with new paint. The first time with a primer and the second and third time with a lacquer for the top coat. Because of the lacquer layer, lacquered parquet floors, unlike oiled floors, cannot be touched up locally.

Renovate or have a wooden floor renovated by Uipkes

Have your floor renovated or do the renovation yourself?

Renovating a wooden floor is craftsmanship. It does not matter whether you have an oiled or varnished floor. Sanding in particular is precision work, because you only have to sand the top layer very lightly so that the floor can be renovated even more often.

Renovating a wooden floor is of course more expensive than renovating the floor yourself. But on the other hand, a professionally renovated floor looks like new again and you also have the certainty that your floor can be renovated even more often in the future.
