Cast floor as a basis for a wooden floor

On an existing cast floor with underfloor heating you can install a directly glued wooden floor. So you do not have to remove the existing floor and the new wooden floor can simply be installed over the existing floor.

What is a cast floor?

A cast floor is a smooth, sleek floor that is available in various materials and colors. They are resistant to scratches and stains, but the floor cannot be repaired locally. The cast floors have a lower resistance value, so the wooden floor can be placed on the cast floor.

Preparing the cast floor

Before the wooden floor can be placed on the cast floor, a number of steps must be completed:

  • First degrease the existing 'old' cast floor with a cleaner, then mop with water.
  • After this, roughen the existing casting material with grit 24, then vacuum.
  • Prime the roughened floor with a primer, then glue the floor and apply the wooden floor to it.
