What are the advantages of a wooden floor?

What is the difference between solid wood floors and engineered wood floors?

A solid wooden floor consists of one piece of wood, while a composite wooden floor consists of multiple layers of wood with a top layer of solid wood. 

Engineered wood floors are generally more stable than solid wood floors and less susceptible to shrinking and expanding due to fluctuations in moisture content and temperature. This makes a composite plank more suitable for combining with underfloor heating.

Which wood species are most suitable for a wooden floor?

Oak is a popular wood specie for wooden floors because of its durability and beautiful appearance. Other suitable wood species include cherry, walnut, maple and pine.

How should I maintain my wooden floor?

A wooden floor requires regular maintenance to maintain its beautiful appearance. Vacuum and mop the floor regularly. Use the supplied floor soap for this. In addition, the floor must be treated periodically with an oil after 3 to 5 years to renew the protection of the finish.

How long does a wooden floor last?

There is no expiration date on a wooden floor. Depending on the type of wood, the quality of the wood, the finish and the maintenance provided, a floor can even last a lifetime.

Can I install a wooden floor myself?

It is possible to install a wooden floor yourself, but it does require some experience and knowledge of the right techniques and tools.

What is the difference between an oiled and lacquered finish on a wooden floor?

An oiled finish gives a matte appearance to the floor, many colors can be created using oil. An oiled floor does not need to be sanded, after 3-5 years the floor can be oiled again. 

A lacquered floor has a protective layer on top of the floorboards. The layer offers good protection to the floor. The disadvantage of the lacquer layer is that it wears off over time. To protect the wood, you must sand the floor and apply a new layer of varnish.
