Subfloors

Subfloors form the basis for your new floor. Whether you have a sand-cement floor, wooden subfloor or a subfloor in combination with underfloor heating , all subfloors have their own unique properties and peculiarities that need to be taken into account.

Wooden floors can be installed floating or glued, regardless of the surface of the home. Floating floors can also be used in apartments due to sufficient noise reduction. In principle, our wooden floors can be used in all types of homes and office buildings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can a wooden floor in the form of engineered wood flooring be installed?

Engineered wood flooring is a type of wooden floor that consists of different layers. It has a top layer of solid wood and a bottom layer of plywood or HDF (High-Density Fiberboard). Parquet flooring can be installed in various ways, such as floating installation, gluing or nailing. The installation method may depend on the specific properties of the parquet and subfloor.

Should I use a moisture barrier under the wooden floor/ engineered wood floor ?

The use of a moisture barrier may be recommended, especially if the engineered wood floor is installed on a concrete surface. A moisture barrier helps to prevent moisture problems by preventing moisture from the substrate from penetrating into the engineered wood floor. Consult the manufacturer's installation instructions for specific recommendations regarding moisture barriers.

Can the engineered wood floor be installed on underfloor heating ?

Yes, engineered wood flooring is generally suitable for installation on underfloor heating systems. However, it is important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations and ensure that the parquet flooring is suitable for use with underfloor heating . It is also important to follow temperature and humidity guidelines to avoid damage to the wood.

Do I need to finish the engineered wood floor after installation?

Parquet flooring is either supplied with a factory finish, such as oil, varnish or wax. These finishes already provide a certain degree of protection. However, it is possible to finish the engineered wood floor yourself or by a professional after installation, depending on the desired method, appearance and protection. Consult the manufacturer's instructions to determine whether it is necessary to refinish the floor and which products are suitable for the engineered wood floor.

Can I install a engineered wood floor myself or should I call in a professional?

Installing engineered wood flooring can be done as a DIY project, but it does require some skill and knowledge of flooring installation. It is important to follow the manufacturer's installation instructions carefully and ensure proper subfloor preparation. If you have no experience with floor installation or are unsure, it may be wise to call in a professional floor installer to ensure that the floor is installed correctly and permanently.

How long does it take to install engineered wood flooring and when can I walk on the floor?

The time required to install engineered wood flooring can vary depending on several factors, such as the size of the room, the complexity of the installation and the installation method chosen. In general, the installation of a engineered wood floor can take several days to several weeks, work preparation, inspection of the floor area and installation.

After installing the engineered wood floor you have to wait before you can walk on it. This may vary depending on the adhesive used, finish and other factors. Follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding drying time and making the floor walkable. In most cases, you will need to let the floor dry for several hours to several days before you can walk on it or place furniture. The ballast of newly installed floors should be kept to a minimum for the first 2 weeks, as well as water.
