Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare the subfloor?

The subfloor must be clean, flat and dry before you start installing the wooden floor. Remove any bumps and dust, and ensure that the subfloor has no moisture problems. If necessary, you can use a moisture barrier or a suitable underlay to block moisture.

Do I need to acclimatize the parquet floor?

No, our wooden floors come from an acclimatized environment. If the room deviates from this (relative humidity between 45-70% and approximately 17 degrees), the room must be prepared for this. Otherwise, it is important to acclimatize the engineered wood floor before installing it. Remove the floorboards from the packaging and leave them in the room where they will be installed for at least 48 hours. This helps the wood adapt to the temperature and humidity of the environment.

What tools do I need?

To install a engineered wood floor, you usually need the following tools: a saw (preferably a jigsaw or a circular saw), a hammer, a measuring tape, a pencil, a square, a tapping iron, a tapping block, a rubber mallet and possibly a knee pad.

Which installation method should I use?

There are different installation methods for engineered wood flooring, such as floating installation or glued installation. The choice depends on the specific situation. Floating installation is often the most commonly used method for DIYers because it is relatively simple and does not require any glue.

Do I need to apply additional finishing to the engineered wood floor?

An engineered wood floor must always be treated. In most cases, the engineered wood floor is already finished in advance in the chosen color. This already offers a certain degree of protection. If you buy untreated wood, you must treat it yourself with oil, varnish or hard wax.
